My Brethren in Christ, greetings in the name of Jesus.

I cannot think of another scripture that encourages us to be pure of heart as described on 1 Kings 8:18. This scripture clearly shows that God is more pleased with what is in our hearts than what we do with it. Proverbs 4:23 says “out of the heart are the issues of life, and Luke 6:45 tells us that “Out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks. God said to David that he had done well that it was in his heart to build a house unto the name of the Lord. David knew this for he prayed to God for a new heart.

The heart governs what the men and women do: if there is evil in it evil will proceed out and if good then good proceeds out. Matthew 12:35. Therefore, we as children of God must guard our hearts as Matthew 5:8 says: “Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God.” Our motive for loving God must be the matter of pure hearts – if God is our treasure our hearts will be on Him.

I pray in the name of Jesus Christ, that our hearts will be kept pure by the power of the Holy Spirit of God working in and through us. Amen.
