“I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing” (Joh 15:5).

Without me ye can do nothing… All power belongs to God who has delegated power and authority to His Son Jesus. Jesus delegated power to His disciples. His disciples utilised the power to do good works: sharing with each other, feeding, healing, preaching, teaching, taking care of the poor. As born again disciples of Jesus Christ, it is also our duty to do good works: pray for all people, to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ, feed, clothe and take care of the poor, follow Christ’s example. For without Jesus we can do nothing.

Except we abide in the vine, we cannot bear fruit. It doesn’t matter what exciting plans we make, without Christ who is the true vine, our plans  cannot succeed in the will of God. When we don’t know how to deal with life’s issues, Jesus is the answer. There is nothing that Jesus cannot do, and there is nothing that we cannot do through His power and authority. When we depend on our own understanding we fail. But when we are obedient to the leading of the Holy Spirit, we will bear much fruit and because we are connected to the vine whatever we do will prosper.

All Glory to God!
