Grace And More Grace
Grace is the nature of God for He is gracious. God loves us so much that he gave us His son Jesus who is the Christ.
The Apostle teaches thus:
But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us, Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;) That in the ages to come he might shew the exceeding riches of his grace in his kindness toward us through Christ Jesus. (Ephesians 2:4-5;7 KJVLite).
Jesus is the embodiment of God’s love and His great graciousness.
“For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: (Ephesians 2:8 KJVLite).
It is through God’s grace that we even exist. Verse 6 says:
And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus: (Ephesians 2:6 KJVLite). We did not and could not save ourselves. Which one of us could raise us up to sit in heavenly places in Christ Jesus? None. Not one single person.
We don’t deserve God’s grace, God does not owe us. His grace is a gift freely given to all who would receive. God has given and gives us grace upon grace upon grace: so that we can even crawl out of bed, walk to a local shop – grace; courage to speak up in the workplace – grace; attend the biased discriminatory meeting – grace; to smile in the face of adversity – grace; to hear the clinician’s diagnosis and prognosis – grace; to stand up straight whilst in excruciating pain – grace, grace and more grace.
Brethren, let us pray,
Almighty God, our Father, in Jesus’ name, we pray, we thank You for Your precious grace; for while we were yet sinners, You sent Christ Jesus to die for us. Father God, help us to understand the meaning of Your grace and how it enables us to serve You and live. Help us to see and understand the relationship between Your grace and our abilities. We humbly ask and say thank You, Lord, in Jesus’ mighty name. Amen.
