The Word of God poses several questions that we must take seriously if desire to please God. Included are those in Romans 6:1-2, “What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound? God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein?”

If we are truly dead to sin, buried with Him by baptism – our old man crucified with Him, and freed from sin, why would we ever want to go backwards and serve sin? We are encouraged by the Apostle in verse 12,  “Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, that ye should obey it in the lusts thereof” (Rom 6:12 KJVLite). What we cannot be, is God’s glory in the earth and at the same time be entangled in sin. By continuing in sin we displease God. But when we live free from sin God is glorified, we honour His name, Yahweh. So, in this new transformed life, we can rejoice and enjoy salvation’s freedom.

How God deals with each one of us is His decision, we are all uniquely made and responsible for our own actions. We may share several traits with even our most distant cousins but we are not our cousins. And a day will come when each of us must account for our time on earth.

Father of all creation, I honour Your life-giving name. I pray in the name of Jesus, that the church will follow the instruction in Romans 6:13, “Neither yield ye your members as
instruments of unrighteousness unto sin: but yield yourselves unto God, as those that are alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness
unto God.” (Rom 6:13 KJVLite). I give You thanks, O God. Amen.
