Pray Without Ceasing
In 1 Thes 5:17 the Bible instructs us to pray without ceasing. Paul was not asking the church to pray in the good times or in the bad times. His encouragement was drawn from his own experience. In prison Paul and Silas did not stop to have a conversation about their situation, they worshiped God in prayer and song. Our Father in heaven instructs us to call Him and He further encourages us that He will answer (Jer 33:3).
Jesus taught His Disciples to pray because prayer is an essential necessity in our relationship with our Father. God knows what we need before we ask but He wants to hear from us and He says in Isaiah 65:24, “And it shall come to pass, that before they call, I will answer; and while they are yet speaking, I will hear.” The Lord, may not answer today but keep calling because He will answer. There are many situations where prayer was sent up and it did not seem that God heard, Paul’s case is one such example. Paul prayed on three occasions for healing from an issue he had but didn’t get his anticipated response. If God does not answer how you want Him to He still gives us His grace.
I pray in Jesus’ name that the Holy Spirit of prayer will wash over our souls so that we may with one voice call on Jehovah God who is our all in all, who answers all our prayers and gives us grace. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
