The Book of Numbers  chapter 12 tells us about a rebellion, how two siblings rebelled against their brother and God’s response to their rebelliousness.

Now the man Moses was very meek, above all the men which were upon the face of the earth (Numbers 12:3 KJVLite). Moses God’s chosen leader, got himself a second wife. His elder sister Miriam and his brother Aaron took offence. Well, what had it to do with them, we might ask. Racism reared its ugly sinful face and stared at Moses’ new wife, an Ethiopian woman. Miriam and Aaron stirred up a rebellion against Moses saying: Hath the LORD indeed spoken only by Moses? hath he not spoken also by us? And the LORD heard it (Numbers 12:2 KJVLite). And the LORD spake suddenly unto Moses, and unto Aaron, and unto Miriam,… (Numbers 12:4). The Lord appeared as a pillar of cloud and rebuked Miriam and Aaron and asked why they were not afraid to speak against His faithful prophet. (Numbers 12:8).

The Lord was angry with Miriam and Aaron, and for her part Miriam became leprous and was also shut out of the camp for seven days. Aaron, asked Moses for forgiveness for their sin and for intercession. And Moses cried unto the LORD, saying, Heal her now, O God, I beseech thee (Numbers 12:13 KJVLite). Should we also not watch how we speak against each other or should we see ourselves as being perfect?

Father God, I pray we recognise You as the Almighty God who sees and hears all things, and that we accept Your chosen servants whom You have anointed for Your glory and not think or act with jealousy nor incite rebellion against them. And if we find ourselves at odds we repent quickly as Aaron did and pray meekly for the rebelious to be restored as Moses did for his sister. Father, we give You thanks for Your Word and blessings in Jesus’ name. Amen.
