Forgive Your Debtors
“And forgive us our debts, as we have forgiven our debtors” [letting go of both the wrong and the resentment] (Mat 6:12 AMP) Hallelujah!
Where do you and I stand right now? How many times have we fallen short and not forgiven our debtors? Our failure is not letting go of the wrong, the thing that was done to us, and the debtors, the person or people who did the wrong. Letting go of both the wrong that was done and person or people, that did the wrong releases us from resentment and unforgiveness.
Being unforgiving, and too stubborn to forgive our debtors, places us in a dangerous position, we become debtors to God. We pray, “and forgive our debts” yet we ‘have not’ forgiven our debtors. Our eternity with Christ Jesus is dependent on us forgiving our debtors. Why? Christ Jesus forgave us.
Father, we thank You for Your love, for Your gifts to Your church, instruction in righteousness, and an ability to forgive others. Help us, O God, as we strive to be forgiving, to clear the way for our own forgiveness. Keep us from hypocrisy. Through the power of the blood of Christ, cleanse our hearts. Deliver and heal us from secret and unrepented sin, recurring guilt, resentment and unforgiveness. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
Father, reveal my unforgiveness to me so that I may forgive my sisters, brothers, and neighbours. In Jesus’ name, I seek Your face for forgiveness. Amen.
