Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering, (Heb 10:23).

An encouraging word given to secure our faith. Those to whom this word was written were suffering persecution and in danger of apostasy. For he is faithful that promised. To further encourage them to hold fast their profession, the apostle adds this additional consideration. God, who had promised believers eternal life, was faithful to all that He said. As God is so faithful to us, we ought to be faithful to Him. The fact that God is faithful is an encouragement to us to continue even in the face of opposition and persecution as did Christ’s disciples. Jesus Christ, Himself was faithful unto the cross. 

We depend on God’s grace as without it we could not hold fast our profession. God is never unfaithful, and it is His faithfulness that we must hold on to. His Word assures us that He will perform everything He has promised, so we must believe this as we serve a true and faithful God.

To this end, I pray in the name of Jesus Christ for every person facing every kind of persecution or trial that we will all hold onto the unchanging hand of God. And continue the profession of our faith without doubt or fear, and without wavering. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
