Father God, I pray in Jesus’ name, for all who have lost a loved one, for the mother and father who have lost a child, for children who have lost a parent or sibling. Let Your comforting hands touch and ease their pain and loss. I pray in Jesus’ name, that all thoughts of regret and guilt be assuaged by Your very presence. I pray Your Holy Spirit surround them as they deal with the space left by their loved ones.

Father, regulate emotions enabling family members, friends, neighbours and colleagues to cope with their sense of loss. Let Your holy Word be a balm that soothes and brings peace. I pray in Jesus’ name, that in their time of need the church will demonstrate love and understanding. I pray that in spite of the loss, we’ll support one another to overcome, rejoice and grow strong in Jesus Christ. In the mighty victorious name of Jesus Christ. Amen.
